BAA Golf Camp
The Bloomington Athletic Association offers golf for anyone in the Minneapolis area. Boys and girls ages 7 through high school from any community are encouraged to register. It is very unlikely that both camps would fill up, but if either one does Bloomington residents will take priority.
Sign-ups are in April each season. Check the Important Dates page for the most current information available. The fee is $155.
The BAA Golf Program provides an excellent golf experience for 232 players (168 at Hyland and 64 at Dwan). NOTE: You have to play in this BAA Golf Program at Hyland at least one year to be eligible to play in the Dwan program. The Dwan program is meant for kids that are better players and mature enough to play on their own while following proper golf etiquette, keeping an accurate score and keeping up with the group in front of them.
For the players at Hyland a season of golf consists of 4 lessons, 3 with a golf professional and 9 rounds of golf on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Those tee times start between 1:00pm and 6:30pm. The older players are scheduled at the earlier start times. The later the start time the younger the player will be. The 9th round is a year-end tournament that is Flighted by skill level so you play with players at your skill level and is followed by a presentation of awards to every player and a barbeque for the entire family! For the players at Dwan a season of golf consists of 3 lessons with a golf professional and 7 rounds of golf on Sunday evenings. Those tee times start between 4:30pm and 6:30pm. The 7th round is a year-end tournament that is Flighted by skill level so you play with players at your skill level and is followed by a presentation of awards to every player and a food/drink inside the club house.
All players must provide clubs. For the Hyland program, parents or a responsible adult are required to be a scorekeeper 2-3 times for each child they have in the program. Each scorekeeper is given instructions before they start and the key points are documented right on the score sheet since many parents have not done this before. They walk with a foursome to make sure the players are safe, following the etiquette of golf, keeping up with the group in front of them and keeping an accurate score. The Dwan program only has scorekeepers on the tournament day.
