BAA Statement on COVID -19

The Bloomington Athletic Association (BAA) is committed to protecting the health and safety of our sports families and the broader community. We are closely monitoring Bloomington Public Schools BPS and the City of Bloomington for our planning and preparation for COVID-19/Coronavirus and will be following their lead on decisions to cancel activities.

11/18/2020 ALL BAA Winter Sports are on hold until further notice (Basketball and Floor Hockey). More details will be provided as soon as possible. See the sport specific page on our website for further details.

COVID-19 Social Distancing Policy for all BAA Sports until further notice (7/20/2020): ALL BAA Volunteers working with players (coaches, assistant coaches, volunteers organizing kids, umpires, etc) will be required to wear a face mask at all times while at the field with parents, guardians and/or players present.

Taking this action will minimize the effect to the BAA teams if a coach was exposed to other people that had been diagnosed with COVID-19.

Boys Basketball Program Description

11/18/2020 PROGRAM UPDATE

The upcoming 2021 Boys Basketball season has been postponed, at this time, due to the current situation regarding the pandemic. We have received notice from the Bloomington School District that all Bloomington School Gyms will be closed from November 20th through the end of January.

While our goal has always been to provide a fun and positive activity for the children, it is essential that this be done in an environment and under conditions that allow for safe participation, support, and viewing. The School District will be reviewing their policy, in January, to determine if it would be possible to reopen the gyms starting in February.

We will revisit this matter in January, regarding any decisions made by the School District, as to the opening of gyms starting in February. If it can be determined, based upon a decision to reopen, that it would be feasible and safe to have a modified season, we will consider offering the alternative. Any decisions would be based upon the decisions and information of State and Local government and medical officials.

Thank you for all your patience and support for BAA and its programs as we continue to strive to provide athletic opportunities for the children.

All 2021 BAA Boys Basketball Registrations grades are based on the 2020 – 2021 School Year.

Welcome to the BAA Boys Basketball Registration for the 2021 Season. We are currently working on the protocols and requirements to have a viable and successful season. This will include the wearing of masks, social distancing and limits on numbers in the gyms and passageways. As we work with the school district, we will try and maintain the Game/Practice Meeting Nights, from prior years, but we may have to make some adjustments based upon Gym availability.

Our goal is to Provide a Safe and Fun experience for your children and so we ask for your patience and understanding. We hope to be able to operate with a hybrid model during this challenging time and by next season be back to normal. We ask for you to just register your son for now. Once we have for detail and are ready to start creating teams, we will reach out with full details for the season and for you to complete the process by paying the registration fee. Thank-you for continued support and assistance.

Program is to run from January – March.

Registration is no obligation with the first payment due on January 1st. Online payment is not open until January 1st.
