Betty Lokken/Arnie Johnson
This is to recognize your contributions to the continued growth of Bloomington Athletic Association. This person’s actions have helped BAA strengthen its community outreach.
Award History: Arnie is the founding father of the BAA boys athletic association and Betty the founding mother of girls programming within BAA.

Frank Pikala
The Frank Pikala Award is to recognize the outstanding contribution to Bloomington Athletic Association in a particular sport. This person stands out from their peers because of their commitment to service to the kids of BAA.
Award History: Frank Pikala was known as the “God Father” of BAA. Frank worked with the city of Bloomington to allow BAA to use the Tom Robinson Equipment building for the storage of our equipment which we fondly refer to as “The Shack”. He was a part of BAA for 25+ years. He was Arnie Johnson’s sidekick.

Sam Hanson
The Sam Hanson award is to recognize this individual’s exceptional contribution to the Bloomington Athletic Association. The commitment to the quality of service this individual provides to BAA has gone above and beyond all expectations.
Award History: Sam saved BAA from financial ruin. He set up an accounting system for BAA, did BAA’s taxes for years, and has donated money and has been a part of BAA for 20+ years. Over the years Sam served as VP of Operations, equipment director, and coach.

Bruce Gustafson
The Bruce Gustafson award is to recognize an individual’s exceptional coaching ability and service to the Bloomington Athletic Association. This person stands out from their peers for their ability to teach kids new skills and while at the same time demonstrating what exemplary sportsmanship looks like.
Award History: Bruce Gustafson had coached all BAA sports during his tenure and even was a referee. During a BAA baseball game, he was hit with a baseball while coaching 3rd base. He died from complications due to those injuries. This happened in the 1990s.

Wayne C. Roth
Wayne C. Roth – This award goes to an equipment director who has shown outstanding service related to BAA sports equipment handling.
