BAA Statement on COVID -19

The Bloomington Athletic Association (BAA) is committed to protecting the health and safety of our sports families and the broader community. We are closely monitoring Bloomington Public Schools BPS and the City of Bloomington for our planning and preparation for COVID-19/Coronavirus and will be following their lead on decisions to cancel activities.

1/9/2021 Update: At this time we need to clarify that when the Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, and Floor Hockey Season’s begin we are following Bloomington Public School (BPS) Guidelines and will NOT be able to schedule games until BPS allows us to have our Pods/Teams play each other. We will begin our seasons as scheduled with training and scrimmages within pods/teams.

BPS Guidelines do not allow for us to have Spectators and based on the State Guidelines, it is doubtful that we will allow spectators this season. BAA is exploring options to have a volunteer stream the games live. To volunteer you must register online, registration for volunteers is at the bottom of your child’s sports page for registration links (it is NOT the indicator in your child's registration). Only one volunteer per family. Again, we apologize for any confusion, BAA will begin games and move from training as soon as we are able based on the BPS policies.

1/4/2021 BAA Winter Sports have opened new registrations. All previous registrations have been deleted and everyone needs to register again.

We will note a couple of current guidelines that must be adhered to participate in BAA Programs this winter. All participants (players, coaches, or other volunteers) must wear a mask at all times. BAA will provide a list to the district of ALL participants per team for contact tracing.   Participants are only to enter the buildings that their team is assigned at the time they are assigned.  If any non-registered person is entering the building they must sign in per the building process. If a team is not following the BPS guidelines they will be issued one warning. If a second instance is noted that the team will be suspended from using BPS for the remainder of the COVID-19 restrictions.

1/4/2021 BAA has updated our Return to Play https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rOGHXAdvKSrkXCmWDGfURMFjSeOvO3ie2MS8skwO95M/edit?usp=sharing to incorporate the new requirements. All participants must agree to follow the policy.

BAA Procedure for COVID-19 Exposure can be found at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1sAjEMUKbzEC-lUEhSGZIpnoyNzGCpBAGG5M6zlPbd-Y/edit?usp=sharing

Sport Specific policies can be found on the Sports Page on our site.

We encourage all volunteers, families, and players to utilize recommended precautions to minimize the risk of spreading the virus. If you have any immediate questions regarding the upcoming season, please feel free to e-mail Stephanie Nicholson at admin@baaonline.org or call at 952.373.1563.
